Senior dress down day

Academic Signing Ceremony

April 18, 2011 — McNamara had its first academic signing for senior Casey Gouldman. Casey received $110,161.00 in scholarship money to Seton Hill University and received a giant check in the Guidance Center. Students and her parents celebrated Casey’s accomplishments, and when all was said and done she joyously stated, “I am so relieved I got it over with.”

Two sophomores compete in DC Youth Poetry Slam Finals

Sophomores Mandla “Kosi” Dunn and Kayla McAfee are gaining recognition for their words. Kosi and Kayla entered the local DC Poetry Slam, where poets from all over the Washington Metropolitan area compete to be a part of the “slam team.”

For placing 5th, Kosi will head to California to perform on the HBO’s Brave New Voices. Kayla placed 7th. For more, read the story on The Stampede’s news website.

Cardinal McCarrick celebrates mass at McNamara

Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, was greeted with enthusiasm as he orchestrated mass Friday morning, February 11, 2011. Cardinal McCarrick explained that he always enjoys coming to Bishop McNamara because it is a great school with a great history. The Cardinal is a good friend of Holy Cross and the recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Notre Dame.
